Disbursement

The institution operates at the lowest sustainable cost. Operating overhead covers the running costs of the website, payment processing fees charged by Stripe, the cost of domain registration and hosting, and any third-party services strictly necessary to the institution’s function.

Operating overhead does not include any salary, contractor payment, or compensation of any kind to the founder during the inaugural cycle. The institution is operated as voluntary work.

The institution publishes its operating overhead as a percentage of total contributions received, updated quarterly during the cycle.

Partner organisations for each category are selected by the committee from those whose work directly opposes the conduct documented against the nominees in that category.

Selection is made against the following standards. The organisation must be a registered charitable body in its country of operation. The organisation must publish audited accounts. The organisation must give formal written consent to be named as a partner of the institution.

Partner organisations are confirmed at the end of each cycle, after voting has closed. They are not announced in advance, because the work of selecting partners is itself part of the institution’s review of how the funds should be most usefully directed.

For The Warmonger, partner organisation categories under consideration include those working in: protection of civilians in active war zones, refugee resettlement and displacement support, independent conflict journalism and the documentation of war crimes, legal accountability for violations of international humanitarian law, and peace-building and conflict mediation. Specific organisations within these categories will be confirmed at cycle conclusion.

Disbursement occurs within ninety days of the close of each cycle.

All funds held against a category are disbursed in that cycle. The institution does not carry funds forward from one cycle to the next.

Each disbursement is published as a public record on this page, listing the recipient organisation, the amount, the date of the transfer, and the cycle in which the funds were raised. The record remains on the page permanently.

Donors who have made a contribution may request a record of the disbursement of their contribution by writing to the institution at the contact address. The institution does not hold donor contact details, so the request must include the date and approximate amount of the contribution for the institution to verify it against its records.
