About
The Caligulas is an independent counter-award institution that publishes a formal register of those whose conduct in positions of power has caused the most documented harm. The institution operates as the inverse of established awards bodies. Where bodies such as the Nobel Foundation honour the highest contributions to peace, literature, science, and human welfare, The Caligulas records the people whose actions have worked against those ends.
The institution operates from Sydney, Australia. It is funded by contributions made against the nominees on its register. All contributions are held until the end of each cycle and then disbursed to charitable organisations whose work directly opposes the conduct documented against the nominees.
The first cycle opens 1 June 2026 with a single category, The Warmonger, the inverse of the Nobel Peace Prize. The five remaining categories will open in the cycles that follow.

Founder statement
The Caligulas was founded on the conviction that public recognition is a public power, and that this power has been distributed only in one direction. We honour those who do the most good. We have no equivalent body that names those who do the most harm, with the same seriousness, the same record-keeping, and the same permanence.
The Nobel Foundation is now in its second century. It exists because Alfred Nobel believed that a permanent institution would do more for peace, literature, and science than any single act of generosity. The Caligulas is built on the same principle, applied in reverse. A permanent institution naming the perpetrators of the gravest public harms will do more for the public record than any single act of journalism, any single court ruling, or any single campaign.
The institution exists to do this work in public. Its citations are sourced from the public record and remain available to read in full. Its funding is transparent. Its disbursements are published. Its committee is identified.
The institution begins where every institution must begin. With one cycle, one category, three nominees, and a record.
